How to forward New Emails in Gmail

Automatically forward some of your emails to another address based on rules you configure. For example, automatically send all of your receipts to a finance tool.

1

Create your playbook

To automate this workflow, you'll create a Relay playbook that runs automatically every time you receive an email in Gmail that matches certain criteria.

Get started by signing up at Relay.app and clicking "New playbook." Give your new playbook a unique name that describes which emails you want to forward.

2

Add the Gmail trigger

Every playbook starts with a trigger, in this case when a new email is received that matches your criteria.

Click "Add trigger" and select "Email received" under Gmail. Then, select your criteria, like sender, message content, labels, etc. If this is your first time using a Gmail integration in Relay, you'll be prompted to connect your Gmail account.

3

Add the Gmail Forward email automation

Now you can set up the email forwarding action. Add a new step and select "Forward email" from the list of Gmail automations. Then, enter the email address that you want to use for forwarding.

4

Turn on the playbook

When you are done setting up the playbook, it's time to turn it on.

It will now run automatically whenever you receive an email in Gmail that matches your criteria. If you just received an email and it hasn't run yet, you can hit "Check now" to do a manual check any time.
