How to automatically upload new Google Docs to a specific folder in Dropbox

Relay.app is an automation tool that lets you automate actions across Google Docs, Dropbox, and many other apps. In this guide, we'll show you how to automatically run the “upload file” action in Dropbox for each document added to folder in Google Docs using Relay.app.

1

Create your playbook and set the Google Docs trigger as "Document added to folder"

After creating your playbook, you can proceed to add your trigger. The trigger detects changes in your connected apps and responds to your playbook.

To set up this playbook, click "Add trigger" and then select "Document added to folder" under Google Docs. Then, select the parent folder where documents are added. This will allow your playbook to automatically detect the newly added Google Docs document in the folder and initiate necessary actions.

If this is your first time using a Google Docs integration in Relay.app, a prompt will guide you through the connection process.

2

Add the "Upload file" in Dropbox automation

Integrate the Dropbox automation into your playbook to ensure the prompt file upload for each new Google Docs document added to a specific folder.

Click the "Add step" button, then locate the "Upload file" automation for Dropbox and input the mandatory and relevant details.

If your Dropbox account isn't already connected to Relay.app, you will be prompted to complete that connection. Make sure to allow the necessary permissions for Relay.app to sync with your Dropbox account.

3

Activate your Relay.app playbook

Activating your playbook is the final step to automate uploading the file in Dropbox. Once turned on, it will respond to each new Google Docs document added by uploading the file in Dropbox without manual intervention.

To enable your playbook, click the toggle button located in the header. It is advisable to perform a test run of your playbook beforehand to ensure all steps work seamlessly together and reminders are being sent correctly.
